Ubuntu

UBUNTU -

UBUNTU IS a very nice story from Africa ...

The motivation behind the Ubuntu culture in Africa ...

An Anthropologist proposed a game to the African tribal children ...

He placed a basket of sweets near a tree

And made the children stand 100 metres away.

Then announced that whoever reaches first would get all the sweets in the basket.

When he said 'ready steady go!' ...

Do you know what these children did?

They all held each other's hands, ran together towards the tree, divided the sweets equally among themselves, ate the sweets and enjoyed it.

When the Anthropologist asked them why they did so,

They answered 'Ubuntu'.

Which meant -
_'How can one be happy when the others are sad?'_

Ubuntu in their language means -
'I am because we are!'

A strong message for all generations.
Let all of us always have this attitude and spread happiness wherever we go.

Let's have a Ubuntu Life ...

I AM BECAUSE WE ARE.

Amor Fati - Learn to Love your Fate.

When you seek beauty in all people and all things, you will not only find it, you will become it.

AMOR FATI - Learn To Love Your Fate.......

Amor fati is a Latin phrase that may be translated as "love of fate" or "love of one's fate". It is used to describe an attitude in which one sees everything that happens, including suffering and loss as, necessary. Whether one likes them or not, it is accepted with zen like serenity.

Thomas Edison was at home eating dinner. A man burst into his home, interrupting him. He had bad news. His research facility was on fire.

Now how would you imagine Edison to react? Do you imagine Edison panicking or do you hear him screaming out “Why me?” or is he deeply distraught or do you see him in deep agony?

None of these happened. Edison requested his son to go and get his mother. It seems, Edison excitedly told his son, “She’ll never see a fire like this again.”

Naturally, Edison’s son thought his father had lost his mind, and rightfully so. All of Edison’s experiments, things that could never be replicated, were inside his laboratory, burning to the ground.

“Don’t worry. It’s all right,” Edison said calmly, “All my mistakes and a lot of unnecessary rubbish have just got burnt.”

In this, Edison revealed the true nature of Amor Fati – choosing to love your fate, no matter what.

Not only was he “NOT broken-hearted”, he was revitalised. Despite losing over $1 million at the age of 67 in that fire, he persevered and made over $10 million thereafter. WOW!

I am in love with the concept of Amor Fati. Why? Because, the power that we have in life by accepting our fate is so immense that you feel nothing is impossible for you. You believe that everything has a purpose, and that it is up to you to make this purpose something positive and active.

Maybe you lost your job.

Maybe someone cheated you of your entire life’s earnings.

Maybe, your trust was broken with impunity.

Maybe, the person you love the most, is facing a life threatening disease.

Maybe, someone ill treated you.

The challenge of your life may be considerable and inescapable.

And yet you’re given the choice to greet it with a smile. And then, act..That’sAMOR FATI.

The goal of this article is not to make you feel “okay” or even “good” when terrible things happen. It’s to make you feel GREAT irrespective of what happens. If it happened, then it was meant to happen. You are meant to make the best of it.

It is unnatural, I know, to feel calmness when faced with calamities. But see it this way. It is fuel for you to push harder when you felt lost. It is fuel for you to work harder when you want to quit. It is fuel for you to think big when nothing was going right. It is fuel for you to smile when all you want to do is frown.

Amor Fati, my dearest friends.

Energy flows. Focus on your thoughts and desires to make it happen.

One of the most powerful ways to bring an idea or desire to life is to focus our thoughts and words on it.

Energy flows where attention goes, and the more we repeat something the more true it feels.

So the words we roll around our head all day matter. In fact, on a very real level, our thoughts actually create matter.

The thing is, when we’re not being mindful about the hamster wheel we’re spinning around thoughtlessly in our heads again and again, we’re often bringing more of what we don’t want to life than what we do.

Every time we focus on lack (“There aren’t any good people to date out there, I don’t have enough time or money …”), we reinforce lack in our lives.

Of course, the beauty of this is the opposite is also true.

The more abundance and possibility—and yes, love—you focus on, the more you’ll get to experience those things as your reality.

These positively reinforcing bundles of words are known as mantras—one Buddhist definition of which is “mind protector.” Mantras help carve healthy and nurturing grooves into your brain, which translate into healthy and nurturing relationships in your life (including with yourself).

So you can think of the mantras below as love-inviters and self-protectors; as simple but powerful ways to attune your energy to a love frequency that radiates out in oh-so-attractive ways into the world.

Here are five love-inviting mantras to repeat to get you started:

1. I trust that the perfect love is already on its way to me and will arrive in the perfect way at the perfect time. I’m ready to receive this love with open arms now.

The more you can get your controlling ego out of the way, the more easily love can flow to you.

2. I am fully capable of giving and receiving love now.

One limiting love belief our minds can trick us into believing is that we’re defective in some way that makes us incapable of love. That’s utter B.S—and it’s time to let your mind know it.

3. I hereby release anything and everything that is blocking the flow of love and abundance to me now.

Clear the channels for that beautiful new relationship to flow to you.

4. Even though I (messed up in some way or perceive this flaw in myself), I love and accept myself completely.

The more you practice unconditional love for yourself, the more you’ll be able to create and receive it in your relationships.

5. I am stepping closer every day to the joyful, loving partnership I’ve always wanted.

Reinforce to your mind that you’re taking powerful action through your inner work and mindful dating to manifest your ideal loving relationship.

Mantras work as much as you work them. So the more you “rinse and repeat” with your favorite go-to’s, the more momentum they’ll pick up. And if the mantras above don’t quite hit the spot for you, play around until you land on a few love-happy phrases that feel potent to you.

As long as the words hit your gut and heart in a way that turns that inner love light on, you’re on the right track. Trust yourself in your mantra experimenting process.

Then lather yourself up with these little love magnets and let the love flow.~

The Golden Box.

The Golden Box…..

Some time ago a friend of mine punished his 3-year-old daughter for wasting a roll of gold wrapping paper.

Money was tight, and he became infuriated when the child tried to decorate a box to put it under their Christmas tree.

Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift to her father the next morning and said, "This is for you Daddy."

He was embarrassed by his earlier overreaction, but his anger flared again when he found that the box was empty.

He yelled at her, "Don't you know that when you give someone a present, there's supposed to be something inside of it?"

The little girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and said, "Oh Daddy, it's not empty. I blew kisses into the box. All for you Daddy."

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little girl, and again begged her forgiveness.

My friend told me that he kept that golden box by his bed for years.

Whenever he was discouraged, he would take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love of the child who had put it there.

In a very real sense, each of us as parents has been given a golden container filled with unconditional love and kisses from our children.

No more precious possession could anyone hold.

Becoming Stronger

Becoming Stronger..

"How many times have you waited for someone to reply to the message you wrote - and yet didn't receive it?

How many times have you dressed up for someone, waiting to hear from them that you’re beautiful?

How many times have you waited for someone’s call, so that they make you feel happy?

How many times have you waited for someone to appreciate the work you’re doing, so it’s easier for you to continue doing it?

With the reply that never came, the compliment you didn’t hear, the phone call that wasn’t intended, and the appreciation that was held back – you and I, we lost our self-worth.

Since kindergarten, we began to associate our self-worth with the golden stars our teachers gave us.

By middle school, this turned into how popular people thought we were and by college, we were living on the compliments we received, and the number of people who praised us.

And till today, we think that our worth is determined by the way others perceive us. Thus, we want our friends to give joy to us, we want our partners to constantly praise us, we want to be noticed, and we want to be appreciated.

Slowly, and gradually, this will harm us. Seeking approval and validation from others will change into a permanent, life-long struggle if we don’t start believing in ourselves.

Stand in front of the mirror and look at yourself – carefully. Speak to your reflection.

Tell your reflection you are beautiful, you are strong. Tell your reflection that you appreciate yourself, that you love yourself, that you want to make yourself happy. Tell your reflection that you’ll be there for yourself.

*Because, sooner or later, you will realize that there is no one who will always be there for you, there is no one but You* !

Healing past Trauma.

Did you know that every time you talk about an unhealed wound or trauma, you re-activate it in your emotional, spiritual and physical bodies? As you speak, or even think, about an old issue, you experience it as if it is happening right now. Since your subconscious mind does not know the difference between current experience and past memory, for all intents and purposes, the trauma or negative experience is happening now.

When you re-activate old painful memories, your thoughts, words and emotions create a negative karmic energy that you unknowingly project out into your future. This karmic energy manifests in more painful experiences, similar to the original issue. In other words, when issues come up without resolution, a karmic loop or pattern develops.

Each time this karmic pattern manifests in real life situations, you re-experience the original wound and the current hurt simultaneously. When this occurs, it is a powerful opportunity to heal the past wound by healing the current one.

Unfortunately, when an issue is re-activated, instead of using it as a healing opportunity, many of us react by pushing the wounds down with numbing substances like food, drugs, internet, Facebook, TV, and a long list of other distractions.

Unhealed issues get stored in the body, until we release them. The body obliges as a storehouse for emotional wounds but it does take its toll, especially if issues are accumulated for long periods of time. Storing wounds in the body eventually weakens the body and invites illness and disease, as well as causing depression, fatigue, stress and weight gain. The good news is that the body is ready to release issues, the moment you are.

When an unhealed issue is re-activated, don’t just push it down – take the time to finally heal it. This means creating intentional space to feel your emotions and allow the issue to process through to Healing. Once you allow yourself to fully experience these emotions for the first time, without resistance, you will innately know what path to healing is right for you.

Wounds are meant to be healed. We are not meant to spend our lives carrying around past issues and hurts. Unhealed issues weigh us down, keep us asleep and prevent us from consciously creating. It is only our personal issues that stop us from experiencing our greatest potential. Holding onto issues keeps us limited and unable to reach that mountain top.

Because of the shifts going on in the collective consciousness and the higher energy now available on this planet, it has never been easier to release old issues. In fact, issues are now coming to the surface to be resolved. This is why so many of us are experiencing familiar challenges. Wounds want to be healed and issues want to be released, but you have the last say. None of this can happen until you are ready and willing.

You are meant to be free and clear of emotional burdens. You are meant to live a limitless life with an abundance of love and creativity. You are meant to stand on the mountain top with arms stretched wide – willing to receive your grandest dreams. The Universe is listening.

Have someone to hold your hands.

Sitting on a beach one summer day, watching two children, a boy and a girl, playing in the sand. They were hard at work building an elaborate sandcastle by the water’s edge, with gates and towers and moats and internal passages.

Just when they had nearly finished their project, a big wave came along and knocked it down, reducing it to a heap of wet sand. I expected the children to burst into tears, devastated by what had happened to all their hard work. But they surprised me. Instead, they ran up the shore away from the water, laughing and holding hands, and sat down to build another castle. I realized that they had taught me an important lesson.

All the things in our lives, all the complicated structures we spent so much time and energy creating, are built on sand. Only our relationships to other people endure.

Sooner or later, the wave will come along and knock down what we have worked so hard to build. When that happens, only the person who has somebody’s hand to hold will be able to laugh…

Make sure you have someone to hold your hands.

Treasure within you.

Treasure Within You! !

One night Sri Adi Shankaracharya, was desperately searching for something on the street outside his small hut. When his pupil returned from his errand, he saw this and curiously asked the Master, “Aacharya, what are you looking for here on the street at this hour?”

Shankaracharya  replied, “I lost my needle, I am looking for it.”

The pupil joined him in the search, but after searching for a while, he asked, “Can you try and recollect where you might have dropped it?”
Shankaracharya  said, “Of course, I remember. I dropped it near the bed in the hut.”

The pupil, utterly astonished at the strange answer, said,  “Aacharya, you say you lost it inside the house, then why are we looking for it outside?”
Shankaracharya  innocently replied, “There is no oil left in the lamp, so it is pitch dark inside the house. Hence I thought of searching for it outside, since there is enough street light here.”

While holding back his laugh, the pupil said, “If you lost your needle inside the house, how could you even expect to find it outside?”
Shankaracharya simply smiled back at the pupil and said, “Isn't that what we do? We run to far away objects in the world to look for happiness, which truly exists in our heart in our loving relationship with God. Silly, aren’t we?

Lesson : Light the lamp of devotion to God in your life, and find your happiness right therein.

If your life is one big RUSH, Stop and smell the Roses.

This is worth a read for everyone who feels their lives are one big RUSH.
Stop and smell the roses....

"It's been 18 years since I joined  Volvo, a Swedish company. Working for them has proven to be an interesting experience. Any project here takes 2 years to be finalized, even if the idea is simple and brilliant. It's a rule."

Globalized processes have caused in us (all over the world) a general sense of searching for immediate  results. Therefore, we have come to possess a need to see immediate results. This contrasts greatly with the slow movements of the Swedish. They, on the other hand, debate, debate, debate, hold x quantity of meetings and work with a slowdown scheme. At the end, this always yields better results.

1. Sweden has 2 million inhabitants..
2. Stockholm has 500,000 people.
3. Volvo, Escania, Ericsson, Electrolux, are some of its renowned companies. Volvo even supplies NASA.

The first time I was in Sweden , one of my colleagues picked me up at the hotel every morning. It was September, bit cold and snowy. We would arrive early at the company and he would park far away from the entrance (2000 employees drive their car to work). The first day, I didn't say anything, neither the second or third days. One morning I asked him, "Do you have a fixed parking space? I've noticed we park far from the entrance even when there are no other cars in the lot." To which he replied, "Since we're here early we'll have time to walk, don't you think that whoever gets in late will need a place closer to the door?" Imagine my face.

Nowadays, there's a movement in Europe named Slow Food. This movement establishes that people should eat and drink slowly, with enough time to taste their food, spend time with the family, friends, without rushing. Slow Food is against its counterpart, Fast Food and what it stands for as a lifestyle. Slow Food is the basis for a bigger movement called Slow Europe, as mentioned by Business Week.

Basically, the movement questions the sense of "hurry" and "craziness" generated by globalization, fuelled by the desire of "having in quantity" (life status) versus "having with quality", "life quality" or the "quality of being".

French people, even though they work 35 hours per week, are more productive than Americans or British. Germans have established 28.8 hour workweeks and have seen their productivity driven up by 20%. This slow attitude has come to the notice of USA , the pupils of the fast and "do it now" brigade.

This no-rush attitude doesn't represent doing less or having a lower productivity. It means working and doing things with greater quality, productivity, perfection, with attention to detail and less stress.

It means re-establishing family values, friends, free and leisure time. Taking the "now", present and concrete, versus the "global", undefined and anonymous. It means taking humans' essential values, the simplicity of living. It stands for a less coercive work environment, more happy, lighter and more productive work place where humans enjoy doing what they know best how to do.

It's time to stop and think on how companies need to develop serious quality with no-rush that will increase productivity and the quality of products and services, without losing the essence.

In the movie, 'Scent of a Woman', there's a scene where Al Pacino asks a girl to dance and she replies, "I can't, my boyfriend will be here any minute now". To which Al Pacino responds, "A life is lived in an instant". Then they dance the tango!

Many of us live our lives running behind time, but we only reach it when we die of a heart attack or in a car accident rushing to be on time. Others are so anxious to live for the future that they forget to live the present, which is the only time that truly exists.

We all have equal time throughout the world. No one has more or less. The difference lies in how each one of us does with our time. We need to live each moment. As John Lennon said, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans".
